Field Service Engineer – Energy Storage

The Harry James Group are working in partnership with a globally recognised market leader within energy storage and optimisation who are currently expanding due to current and new projects secured. The position of Battery Energy Storage Systems Field Service Engineer will be part the growing Field Service Delivery Team within the Energy Business – Energy Storage & Optimization, Lifecycle Services. The applicant should have a solid understanding of fundamental electrical engineering, project management and construction principals, as well, as experience in high power electrical systems

Responsibilities:

– Perform field service activities according to the agreement needs and work plan.

– Support on commission of stationary battery energy storage systems and related equipment.

– Solve technical and operational problems at our customer installations as well as report and propose product improvement needs to reach quality and cost targets and ensure customer satisfaction.

– Manage and maintain good relationships with the customer.

– Prepare and present analytical reports with adequate conclusions and recommendations for how to solve technical problems of the customer as required.

– Participate in customer meetings as local technical advisor when needed.

– Create service work reports and other relevant documentation related to site or customer visits.

– Be on service jobs about 50% minimum of the year

Desired Skills, Experience and Education: 

– Masters’ or Bachelors’ degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience

– Must have valid local electrical license working unsupervised. Understand and adhere to electrical safety codes and regulations.

– Must be based in Fareham or willing to relocate.

– Relocation is not applicable for internal employees.

– 2-4 years’ experience with energy storage systems and/or renewable energy, power systems design and communication networks

You will have a good understanding of: 

– PV Systems

– OPC systems

– Variable frequency drives

– Battery and inverter technology

– Windows server and UNIX/LINUX

– PLC systems

– Industrial networks and protocols (Modbus TCP, Profibus, CAN-bus, CIP, ethernet/IP, ControlNET, etc.)

– Advance programming of firewalls and routers

– Protection relays

– Familiar with NEMA and IP enclosure designs
